CENTRAL CALIFORNIA, CA – August is one of the hottest months of the year, so for Valley residents looking for a way to beat the heat… the 23rd Annual ABC-30 / Baskin Robbins Pint for Pint Blood Drive came at the right time.  In fact, a record 1,834 new and returning donors signed up to give at this year’s life-saving event which was held at donor centers in Fresno and Visalia AND at Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis July 30th and 31st.

Giving blood is the right thing to do and thanks to Baskin Robbins, donors enjoyed cool rewards like a coupon for a pint of their favorite ice cream and a commemorative Pint for Pint T-shirt.

For donors who missed the kick-off - there is still a chance to donate and receive a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream coupon.  To get the FREE pint of ice cream, just donate at a Central California Blood Center location in Fresno or Visalia OR at a select mobile drive.  For more information please call 389-5433.

Blood donation takes less than one hour to complete. Donors must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 years old with written parental consent). Senior citizens are encouraged to donate, as there is no upper age limit. Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within 4 hours prior to their donation. Donors can give blood every eight weeks. Photo ID and Social Security Number are required at donor registration.

The Central California Blood Center is the sole provider of blood and blood products for the 31 hospitals in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa Counties and must collect between 5,000 to 6,000 pints of blood a month to meet the needs of our Valley community.
