Generally, adults in good health, and weighing a minimum of 110 lbs. are eligible to donate. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, but there is no upper age limit provided all health requirements are met.

Other Guidelines:
Drink
plenty of water and eat a healthy meal 4 hours prior
to donating.
Avoid coffee and soda as caffeine dehydrates the body
and slows the donation process.
Know your Social Security Number and bring a picture
form of ID with you.
You must not donate blood if you:
- Have HIV or AIDS, or symptoms of either
- Are at risk of getting and/or spreading the AIDS virus
Who is at Risk? Some of the most common reasons for deferral include:
- Low

Facts
- You have a cold or the flu.
- You are currently taking antibiotics.
- You have a sore throat or fever.
- You have traveled to an area considered ‘high risk’ for Malaria within 12 months or visited the United Kingdom for a total of 3 months or more between the years of 1980-1996.
